Directed Studies is a resource class for identified gifted students.  The course is designed to encourage the development of the whole student toward becoming a complex thinker, an innovative producer, a self-directed achiever, and an effective communicator.  Each student will choose a directed studies topic for research, development, and/or production that is defined and scheduled by contract with the teacher.  At the conclusion of the contract, the student is expected to present the research and work he/she has done to an audience consisting of at least the other students in the class.  Class participation in group activities as well as outside reading assignments are required.
